Also, strings of globe lights are mother-effin' expensive. Anyone know where one can find a bunch without spending millions of dollars? Otherwise we will have no light!
UPDATE: Thanks for all your advice and comments, y'all. I had looked online and at target and stuff. I guess I was just naive and thinking I wouldn't need to pay hundreds of dollars for lights. Maybe there is a Christmas light black market out there? Sharing the cost is a super swell idea and I think I'll start schmoozing now. For anyone else looking here are the sites I've found and others have sent my way:
Party Lights - best deal?

This was the best I could find:

http://www.target.com/String-Lights-Clear-Oversized-Globe/dp/B002SCQTNU/ref=br_1_8?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=13833731&node=13833731&sr=1-8&searchRank=salesrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=String%20Lights%20Clear%20Oversized%20Globe&qid=

$12.99 still isn't cheap though, I know. I may get a few, but it'll mostly be the cheap twinkle lights my dad picked up at CVS for a buck a box after Xmas.

we found ours, which were strings of bare-bulbs (like hollywood mirror lights), at target on the super cheap (keep an eye out for sales). and since they were meant for outdoor lighting each set was fairly long.

Hey!
I'm not sure where you live, etc, but we have the same problem and this is our approach:
- We've put out an email, and a call out to all of our friends, family friends etc, to see if we can (and here's the key word) borrow their strings of lights for the week of the wedding. Once those start coming in, we'll tag them immediately, along with the person's email, so that returns don't get complicated.
- We've put up a craigslist posting geared towards people who bought lights for their wedding, asking them if they'd be willing to part with them for a nominal fee (now that they probably don't have a use for them)
- If the above two fail, there are supply rental companies that will often offer strings of lights to rent (the going rate in Ontario seems to be $5 per string).
Hope this helps, Good Luck!

Big Lots has them for fairly cheap depending on how many you are buying.

I have seen them online (but only with green chord or white chord) and saw a girl walking around with them at Target.....

I've heard of a few folks buying them together and sharing across a few weddings - to keep this incredible look affordable.

m kay. the ones we got at target are way cooler and way cheaper. GO TO THE STORE.

I need to go there to. Want to go after work?

I take that back. Want to go next week after I get paid? ;)

But srsly. I don't think you can count on them to have everything online.

If you're not opposed to DIYing it, check out this post here:

You'd just need to use white Christmas lights instead of colored ones.

So I was on a similar mad search for globe lights. My mom and I had bought about 20 boxes of them, but it ended up being cheaper to hire a lighting guy to put up his own lights (the exact same ones from Target). It IS a few hundred dollars ( I think we spent $400, but we are in SF) but I also didn't have to stand on a a tall ladder on in the mud and try to figure out what the eff I was doing. Also, they are super bright and you'll need way fewer of them than you think. I know we used less than 10 for our 800 sq ft. backyard.
