Big Blooms

Ok...now back to the details. I love the large and in charge (and economical) single blooms from this wedding.

What It's All For

I know we all love the details and sometimes get our heads all in a tizzy over bunting vs. flower garlands or mason jars vs. vintage silver but really, when it all comes down to it, this is really what it's all about, right? Being surrounded by your family and friends while you commit to your best friend and love of your life.

Boudoir

Marie Claire Italia has a a pretty dreamy, vintage-inspired boudoir shoot in their October Issue.

Speaking of dreamy boudoir - have you seen this steamy session over at Feather Love? Whoever is marrying Sonny is a lucky, lucky man.

Dream Wedding{shoot}

Oh, hello dream wedding. Funny to see you while I'm awake. I know you're not really real which makes this a little easier for me to handle right now. But, gee, you are pretty.

Little White Dresser

I was hating my dress a couple days ago and started looking for other options. While I did find a new one that I adore I'm going to try a few additions to the current one before I do anything drastic. I think I have overdosed on wedding magazines and wedding blogs and now I think that I need a little more bling. Just a LITTLE bit. Thankfully, before I started bedazzling my dress, I discovered Little White Dresser. I adore her beaded belts, lacy head pieces and leafy necklaces.
I bought this belt to spruce things up.

I'm crazy about the matching head band but it might be too much, no?

Secret Garden and Hidden Gem

Thank you for your comments regarding my venue question. I'm helping a friend plan her wedding here and we have been able to check venues off our list. We did go with the Marston House which had always been our first choice but had been put on the back burner due to some confusion. According to the website, the Marston House is now being operated by Save Our Heritage Organization instead of the city and, according to that group, they were still in discussions with the city about being able to book private events and couldn't reserve a date for us. There must have been some lack of communication somewhere because when we called the city they told us that, of course, we could come in and see if the date was available. My friend did just this and got the date and the location she wanted.

For the reception, my friend decided on the Old Venice Restaurant. From looking at the website, I wasn't sure what to expect but this place is beautiful. I can't believe I don't see more weddings here. The events are usually held on the back patio which is like a little secret garden. Except for the palm trees peeking above the fence, you would never know you were in San Diego. It is super reasonable and the staff are all really nice and helpful. I can't wait for this wedding next year. I must have been inspired by the old European vibe from the restaurant when I went to the Farmer's Market on Sunday because I ended up making this flower arrangement.

Our Ceremony Tea House

So in my parent's backyard (where we are getting married) there was once a pool. This pool got kind of sad from years of no one swimming in it after my sister and I left for college. It was finally put out of it's misery several years ago. Since then, my mother has had a dream of having a Japanese tea house and garden down there. After much coaxing she finally convinced my father to build her one. When we first got engaged I knew right away that I wanted to have the ceremony in the, then, non-existent tea house. My father is a perfectionist and every little board had to fit just right. I have been trying to think of back up plans just in case the house wasn't finished in time but I received an email the other day that gave me hope! The house is almost complete and it's more amazing than I imagined it. I knew my dad was a handy guy but this is just outstanding! And that fire pit in front? Oh yeah, we will be s'moring it up in that after the party!

Egg Cup Cuties

I really don't need another idea to put through the revolving door that is my centerpiece inspiration folder BUT how cute would these little egg cup planters be!

Treehouse Weddings

Of course, after the last post I had to go find some treehouse weddings!

This one, of course, has been everywhere lately. And it's the only wedding that I could find involving a treehouse that I personally liked (think without ziplines or camouflage).

I found another without camo! I love the mismatched chairs on the river too. Apparently, this treehouse in particular is very popular!

This "tree house" isn't exactly in a tree but I love the multi-colored doors .

The Bowie Bride and HBSGs

The Bowie Bride blog is kind of my new favorite place to go. I lurv the HBSGs (Hipster Bride Style Guides) especially the venues post. Getting married in a treehouse, though, sort of sounds amazing to me.

When Did I Turn Into a Such a Girly Girl?

I'm dying over the frilly, girly, yummy delicious inspiration on the I love lolliblog (from the Lollipop Events gang}. But I'm a sucker for anything with ponies. I'm not sure when I turned into a girly girl and started gushing over things sugar and spice. I think this wedding has kicked my tomboy butt.

Real Wedding: Overgrown Garden

AH! This might be my new favorite wedding and wedding venue. I love the overgrown, wild garden feel. Her hair is stunning and makes me rethink the whole Bridgette Bardot 'do I was going rock.

Real Wedding: Goofy and Sweet

I love a couple that can show their goofy side and not so perfect, windblown hair. And her dress rocks.

Jalouse Photoshoot

Ever since I saw these photos on the blog of Cory Kennedy, I have been waiting for someone to post the actual article from Jalouse magazine. Of course, Rock 'n Roll Bride came to my rescue. Isn't she a doll?

Picnic with Records Engagement Shoot

I haven't posted an engagement shoot in awhile because, honestly, I'm totally over being engaged. I'm ready to be married already. But this one was just too sweet. I need a portable record player and a picnic basket.

Pancakes and Polaroids

I'm really loving the guest posts over at A Cup of Jo. My favorite so far has to be from Cara of Peonies and Polaroids.

"Pancakes for breakfast are the secret to a happy marriage. (Pancakes for breakfast are the secret to a happy anything actually.)

My husband and I make pancakes for breakfast on the weekend at least once a fortnight. First, they're delicious and sharing something delicious makes people happy. Second, once you've covered them in maple syrup and blueberries and occasionally ice cream, they feel kind of naughty, and when you each feel like a 7-year-old who is doing something that they really hope the adults don't find out about, that too is good stuff. But mostly it's the simple fact that you can't rush a pancake; pancakes take time, and time spent together is of course the ultimate secret to a happy marriage."
