Venue: The Loft

I went for a tour of The Loft in UCSD this morning and was delighted with the space. I don't even know if you could book it for a wedding but maybe a rehearsal dinner or shower. From a collection of these chairs to sweet terrariums and funky chandeliers, I think it would be a great venue for an urban, (mid-century) modern event. The space fits up to about 150 seated and there is a stage for a killer band. Anyone in San Diego considering this venue?

Secret Garden and Hidden Gem

Thank you for your comments regarding my venue question. I'm helping a friend plan her wedding here and we have been able to check venues off our list. We did go with the Marston House which had always been our first choice but had been put on the back burner due to some confusion. According to the website, the Marston House is now being operated by Save Our Heritage Organization instead of the city and, according to that group, they were still in discussions with the city about being able to book private events and couldn't reserve a date for us. There must have been some lack of communication somewhere because when we called the city they told us that, of course, we could come in and see if the date was available. My friend did just this and got the date and the location she wanted.

For the reception, my friend decided on the Old Venice Restaurant. From looking at the website, I wasn't sure what to expect but this place is beautiful. I can't believe I don't see more weddings here. The events are usually held on the back patio which is like a little secret garden. Except for the palm trees peeking above the fence, you would never know you were in San Diego. It is super reasonable and the staff are all really nice and helpful. I can't wait for this wedding next year. I must have been inspired by the old European vibe from the restaurant when I went to the Farmer's Market on Sunday because I ended up making this flower arrangement.

Treehouse Weddings

Of course, after the last post I had to go find some treehouse weddings!

This one, of course, has been everywhere lately. And it's the only wedding that I could find involving a treehouse that I personally liked (think without ziplines or camouflage).

I found another without camo! I love the mismatched chairs on the river too. Apparently, this treehouse in particular is very popular!

This "tree house" isn't exactly in a tree but I love the multi-colored doors .

They Aced It

I've talked up the Palm Springs Ace Hotel quite a bit on A & I but haven't really expressed my undying love for the place here. Until now. I had almost got rid of my Ace Hotel withdrawal shakes and then Sarah Yates had to post her INCREDIBLE photographs from a recent wedding vendor event. How I would have LOVED to be at the table for this! Please someone get married at the Ace, like, now!

Grand Opening / Wedding Chapel

I totally wish we could just go to NYC this summer and get married in the new Wedding Chapel. The Wedding Chapel will be available for real weddings, pretend weddings, re-weddings, any kind of wedding this summer. Here are some of the reasons why you should totally go:

- Live internet streaming to friends and family worldwide
- Services performed by an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church
- Seating for up to 20 people
- Staff photographer available
- Custom backdrops
- Gay weddings: Have a commitment ceremony
- Street side post-wedding photo op
- Custom decor and accessories
- Great for vow renewals (bring the kids!)
- Mock weddings: a wedding without the commitment
- No boyfriend or girlfriend? Rent a bride or groom
- Custom Vows
- Makes a great gift!

And if you do go, please let me know! I want pictures!

Royal/T

I need to get my butt to LA and check out all the stellar spaces up there. I just discovered Royal/T today and it is a dream. OK, the Japanese girls in french maid outfits kind of scare me but, still, how fun would it be to have a wedding here!?
