What Nature Gave Ya

I talk a lot about the garments that everyone will get to see but haven't really thought about the stuff for his eyes only. Well, knowing me and champagne there is always the possibility that I'll be dancing around in my underwear by the end of the night. I don't really believe in spending big bucks on my skivvies but you can't really beat eco-friendly, indie and sexy. I can't wait for the 09/10 Eco Initmates Collection to hit Madonnab's Etsy Shop!

They Aced It

I've talked up the Palm Springs Ace Hotel quite a bit on A & I but haven't really expressed my undying love for the place here. Until now. I had almost got rid of my Ace Hotel withdrawal shakes and then Sarah Yates had to post her INCREDIBLE photographs from a recent wedding vendor event. How I would have LOVED to be at the table for this! Please someone get married at the Ace, like, now!

The Latest and Greatest?

Thank you to everyone who said howdy the other day. I had so much fun checking out your blogs!

So I talked to my mom the other day about, what else, wedding stuff. Remember how I wasn't planning on making my "wedding warriors" wear specific outfits? Well, scratch that. Mom would think it would be real nice if all my friends had a theme to their dresses since they have been such good friends. And I was like "If I was really a good friend I wouldn't make them do that" but I love my momma so I'll try and meet her half way. Plus Green Wedding Shoes did that whole post on mismatched dresses and I was sold (good timing!). So between pastels and grays, I've come up with grays since, really, we shouldn't risk the "easter egg" effect.

Then the man and his man friends came up with this brilliant idea today - SEERSUCKER SUITS! With hats! And bowties! Really, I don't know how they think this stuff up. I'm working on editing the hats out (I don't know when this became a southern belle wedding) but I've always been a fan of seersucker so I'm in.

So here is a new board...somehow we have gone from GLAM to BOHO to FRENCH PICNIC . What?

Grand Opening / Wedding Chapel

I totally wish we could just go to NYC this summer and get married in the new Wedding Chapel. The Wedding Chapel will be available for real weddings, pretend weddings, re-weddings, any kind of wedding this summer. Here are some of the reasons why you should totally go:

- Live internet streaming to friends and family worldwide
- Services performed by an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church
- Seating for up to 20 people
- Staff photographer available
- Custom backdrops
- Gay weddings: Have a commitment ceremony
- Street side post-wedding photo op
- Custom decor and accessories
- Great for vow renewals (bring the kids!)
- Mock weddings: a wedding without the commitment
- No boyfriend or girlfriend? Rent a bride or groom
- Custom Vows
- Makes a great gift!

And if you do go, please let me know! I want pictures!

I wish...

And it's gorgeous. Photos by Max Wanger, of course.

A Quick Change

I got a bit of grief when I mentioned slipping into something shorter for the dance portion of the evening. I'm still all about costume changes since I spent less than a hundred dollars on my dress BUT I also love the quick change made by this bride. She went from a pretty half-updo and veil during the ceremony -

to sexy curls and a rockin' pearl necklace (which she made).

Rules to Wed By

Earth Friendly Weddings has some advice for outdoor weddings via Martha Stewart:

"Whether to have some sort of shelter from the elements is an important consideration. A roof or canopy doesn't just guard against rain; it can also provide shade from the strong afternoon sun. Check what time the sun will set on your wedding day so you can make sure you will have enough light if the party continues after dark.

Take care to enhance, not overwhelm, the natural beauty around you; an aisle for the processional can be created with stones or flower petals. Since it can be hard to hear outdoors (especially if the wind is blowing or the waves are crashing), think about using microphones so that guests will be able to listen to the words spoken during the ceremony.

If you need help finding locations, consult travel guides, the Internet, local chambers of commerce, or a wedding planner. As you consider each place, keep in mind that natural scenery changes dramatically from season to season. "A vineyard is perfect from August through October," says wedding planner Francesca Abbracciamento of Francesca Events in New York City. 'But in spring, the vines will be bare.'"

And Perfect Bound posts some of the "Worst Wedding Traditions":

Big Bridal Parties
Matching Bridesmaids
Long Vows
Throwing Rice
Assigned Seating
Expensive Wedding Favors
Throwing the Bouquet
Removing the Garter
Drunken Toasts {c'mon, this is just funny!}

Vintage Plate Help

{via Once Wed}

I want to collect vintage dinner and dessert plates for the big day. I have found a few listings that are reasonably priced on EBay but still need more! Anyone else using or used vintage/thrifted plates and want to pass them along? Thanks!

I heart twinkly lights.

My guestbook is ready and I can't wait to hold it in my hot, little hand! Check it out on the Feather Love blog!

On the Bench

Remember this photoshoot? Well, I've been thinking about it and I really, really, really want to have benches instead of chairs. I have been searching and searching (and I am the Google queen) for places that rent benches but have had no luck! Anyone ever heard of renting picnic tables or benches of any sort????

This is all kinds of awesome
