The Keep-Me-Ups

I have a bad case of the keep-me-ups. When did this start happening to you? I really didn't think it would happen only a week after getting engaged. And having Captain (I'm changing his name to captain bc that's what I call him on the other blog and it's too confusing now to call him all these different names) snoring next to me like a wee little baby does not help.

Here are the causes of my current state:

  • What the hell do I know about feeding 120 people?

  • Will it rain? Oh my god, it's going to rain.

  • Can I really make invitations within budget?

  • Am I crazy person?

  • Can't we just go to Vegas?

  • Will I have enough booze?

  • I need some booze. and an ambien.

Is this really going to go on and on for the next eighteen months? How do I turn it off and get some shut eye???

UPDATE: Thanks for your comments everyone. I know it's all going to be OK. I get like this about everything - Christmas, the first day of school - and usually I don't even think about stuff until my head hits the pillow. Then my brain goes into overdrive and I come up with new projects and I can't go to sleep until I've finished, OK, started them. :) I'm sure it will get better...right?

OH no!! Poor lady! Everything will be just fine! AND Of course you'll have enough booooze. If not we can run to the corner store and pick up some PBR! haha. jk.

P.S. I'm going to be drunk on love & happiness... so you can always give my share of the booze to someone else.

i'm so with you. wedding planning is insane. we've been almost engaged for 1 year and the wedding is still 6-7 months away and i want to curl up in a ball and hide. it gets easier - at least im hoping it does. hang in there! regardless of any worst case scenario [i.e., rain or too little booze], you're still getting to celebrate the day with your boy and that's all that counts.

I've been engaged for two months - the can we just run away question is present at least once every couple of days.

I wish I had good news for you, my dear... but I don't. I haven't slept through the night in months. It's very literally killing me.

Take a deep breathe, girl! It's going to be alright! Believe it or not, everything WILL fall into place, you just gotta take it all one day at a time.

Make a to-do list of everything you need to do, and figure out when each thing needs to be done by.

Don't stress out too bad-- just remember the whole reason you're doing this--- to be MARRIED! Don't let the wedding day psych you out!

Get a bottle of wine too-- that always helps ;)

i suffered from severe "keep-me-ups" for a few weeks when the serious planning for our wedding started. we got engaged in december and the wedding is in july. i was inundated with options and decisions almost immediately and, like you, my thoughts would not SHUT UP when I tried to sleep at night. I found that 2 things really helped.

01. get away from your computer at least an hour before bed. if you're like me, you probably spend a ridiculous amount of time looking at pretty wedding things and considering all the options. i found that brain needed some time to decompress after taking all that in and before trying to sleep.

02. do something NOT wedding related and relaxing before bed. i like to watch TV with Craig for a while and I always read a few chapters before flipping off the light.

take deep breaths too :)this is fun, and not sleeping is NOT fun (especially if you have to get up at 6 like i do). i mean...we're getting married!

I've been dealing with this for months now (as you may have read), and I found that a glass of wine and some benadryl knocks me right out. But according to Nick this is horrible for your kidneys.

I don't know... but I'll worry about my kidneys after May 30th. Right now I need sleep! :)

me, too. every night some aspect of wedding planning keeps me up. Its either that or horrible nightmares about what could go wrong on the day.

My fiance made a rule that I can't look at wedding anything (blogs, magazines, books) after 9pm because I get too wound up. It's helped with the bedtime anxiety and sleeping but (shh) I sometimes cheat and look at blogs once he's fallen asleep.
