F the WIC

{via}

So I went into a mini-rage this morning after getting an email back from a transportation company I had contacted. I wanted to see what options were out there in terms of transportation from the hotel to my parents' house so that folks don't have to worry about drinking too many cocktails and driving. After Erin & Chuck's wedding I was really into the whole school bus idea and didn't think it would be too expensive. Until I got this email telling me that the "wedding package" was several hundred dollars. I wrote back politely asking if there was any other option besides the "wedding package" since I wouldn't need the bus for as long as the package included anyway. Apparently, this company would rather make no money than some money and wouldn't give me any other options just because I was stupid enough to mention that it was for a wedding. If I had said it was for a reunion or any other event then I could have negotiated a deal. But stick the word wedding into a conversation with a vendor and the bottom line all of a sudden hits the roof. So.f*ing.ridiculous. Grrrrrr! I'll learn to keep my mouth shut from now on. Have you experienced any vendors jacking up there prices?

I HATE when they demand you tell them what kind of event it is. I fudge and say it is a family reunion but they keep probing, like they can tell I am lying. WTF. Who cares what kind of event it is? Will you do it or not?

I posted a couple weeks ago about this same thing. One company quoted me OVER $3000 to transport 12 effing people to and from our venue to the hotel. Honestly. The F?dro

that is so obnoxious! i would love to do the school bus too, and i'm actually getting nervous about shuttles. the place i called said it was way too early to book anything five months out, and i should call back a month before. what?
i've found that vendors jack up the prices as soon as they find out it's a wedding. my friend was having a small, intimate wedding and wanted some pretty flowers. the florist charged a certain amount for a work event she had been to, with the same amount of people. she requested the exact same services and as soon as the florist found out it was a wedding, he said the price would be double.

OH Lord, totally. Even when they hear where you are having it at, even they know it is a pretty pricy place, they just sort of assume that you are well off to pay more for their services too. Bah.

I too am obsessed with the idea of a school bus....but have been told it might not be comfortable for people....hmmmm

and YES! I KNOW our DJ is charging a lot because it's a wedding...and that's a bit frustrating...grumble grumble...

but what if you tell vendors it's just a big party and then they get there and you're in a white dress...what happens then?
