Dear Travelers of the Wedding Blogiverse

I need to put you on a mission. Intimate, inexpensive outdoor area with gardens for a 100 person ceremony in San Diego. Ready? Go!

Try Marston House (near Balboa Park). I don't know if there is space for 100 though.
If you're not too picky, go up to North County. Try http://www.twinoaksweddings.com/. It is truly GORGEOUS and not too expensive. :)

I'm not sure what your idea of inexpensive is, but I've recently been to weddings at the Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas and the Thursday Club in SD.

The gardens wedding was fully outside and both the wedding and reception were there.

Only the wedding reception was at the Thursday club with dinner inside, but they have a really nice garden area too...not sure if it's big enough for 100 people though...certainly not to be seated at tables outside.

I have no idea how much either location cost, but I know both were trying to keep costs down so I couldn't imagine they're super extravagent or anything.

Darlington House has a great courtyard garden! So does the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Good Luck!

Based on a very rudimentary search (and having NEVER been to San Diego), I suggest Balboa Park. It's huge with lots of different ceremony and reception site options (including gardens), some of which allow alcohol.

And because it's a city park, the fees are quite reasonable.

Oh - I almost forgot. Check out the website for my fav. B&B - jamulhaven.com. They have a rehearsal dinner package that's sort of crazy (in a good way). There's a pretty golf course extremely near by where people actually have their weddings. It's GORGEOUS.

Ditto on the Marston House and Quail Gardens. Maybe also the conservatory in Balboa Park or the Japanese Tea Garden (also in Balboa Park). Also maybe check the SElf Realization Fellowship which has meditation gardens. Your bride has a great idea to want to get married in a garden here in San Diego, but of course there are not too many garden/park areas because we spend so much time at our beautiful beaches, which are also great cheap places to get married (Sunset Cliffs in spring will have wildflowers too). ; )

I agree that the Marston House may be the way to go! I'm having my wedding their next year and it has a perfect "garden" vibe going on!

I don't know if you found your venue yet, but the Leo Carillo Ranch in Carlsbad is so beautiful. They don't have chairs and tables, but gorgeous old adobe patios and BBQ, a shallow pool, and a killer bar area. Peacocks on the grounds. A room for the bride is super cute and old fashioned. I loved the venue, but was a little daunted about organizing all the rentals. Great grounds for your guests to explore.
Also, there are other ranches around the county, Vista, etc that are beautiful also. Check their city parks websites.
