New Name

So Veiled Vows is no longer as "veiled" as I had hoped it would be when I first started blogging. Yes, it is true that I have a big mouth and like to torture people by saying "I have this wedding blog but you can't see it, ha ha!" and then they go out and find said wedding blog (dang my sneaky friends!). So I need a new name and I need your help in picking one out. Paper Plate Bride? I Heart Feathers and Fairy Tents? Cigarettes and Wedding Cake (ah, I don't smoke anymore but I do love this photo...that must have been a good night)? Leave me a comment and tell me what you think! :)

One Love Photo

Fairy tent, mason jar lights and friends around a campfire at my wedding? Yes, yes and hell yes.

PS: Have you noticed that I enjoy sitting on the ground? I'm sure civilized people like chairs and all but if I had it my way everyone would be sitting on blankets with mismatched pillows.

More Bango and Sarah

Banjo and Sarah rockin' out like the rock stars they are. I'm pretty sure MangoRED only shoots attractive people.

Banjo and Sarah

Noa knows about my love for boho/hippie sh*t and sent this wedding from MangoRED my way. That bride is a dream and her veil is phenomenal.

Zola and Derick

There were two Feather Love contest winners. I am just crazy about how Zola and Derick's engagement shoot turned out. They are so cute and have a rad house and a rad puppy!
This picture makes me wish Bill and I had kissed in our shoot...just once.
I love the Hitchcock-y feel of this one!

You guys wanna come over for a record party?

Our Feather Love Engagement Session

I am thrilled to finally be able to share with you the results of our winning this contest! Our session with Noa of Feather Love Photography was so much fun. These photos are EXACTLY what we wanted and look even more incredible than I could ever have imagined. We were going for a vintage / French new wave kind of feel and Noa captured it perfectly!

Noa has revamped her whole website and blog. The portfolio and the soundtrack are both so dreamy. Seriously, do yourself and favor and spend some time in there!

Ruby Feather

I'm taking a cue from $10,000 and getting read to make some bouts! And I'm not talking roller derby. So far I have purchased some French chicken feathers (they're gorgeous, I swear) and some pearly leaves. I know I have a lot of time to start projects but I'm really excited to start this one (especially since I'm not using real flowers and nothing will die). I just need to find some more sprigs of silk flowers (any suggestions?). I had an idea in my head of what I wanted them to look like and then I saw these beauts from Ruby Feather. They are exactly what I had in mind!

Anyone else make their own bouts?

Real Wedding: Charlotte and Andy

I am a wee bit obsessed with this wedding. Pretty much because every idea I have ever had Charlotte executed with such style and grace. I love the woodsy, New England, at home feel (it just so happens we're getting married at a woodsy, New England home as well) and all the personal touches that Charlotte, Andy, along with their friends and family, made on their day.

Mom helped make all the bouquets

The bride wore her mother's 70s wedding dress and her ballet slippers

Amazing dessert table and grocery store wedding cake (love it!)

Woods cathedral and dance floor

Every party needs a pinata and a bicycle getaway

Love the romantic, "midsummer night's" glow and, of course, sparklers!

Jeremy and Kathleen

I am sure you've seen this wedding by now but I just had to post it. I wish I could invite just the perfect amount of people to have a cozy, intimate and personal wedding inside a house! Love the lanterns and love the love!

Two Months Salary

I have noticed that out here in blogland the subject of engagement rings can quickly turn into a heated topic. There are basically two camps. On one side we have the people who think the bigger the better and won't even consider saying yes unless there is a giant rock placed in front of them. Then there are the people who don't need an expensive token to know how much there significant other loves and cares for them. I fall into the latter and would have been happy with a gumball machine trinket (turns out I love my ring even though some people might not think it's "up to par" as far as engagement rings go).

It is pretty clear to see what side Lee Gainer is on. Just take a look at the artist's statement for Gainer's series "Two Months Salary" -

Gainer used the "two month salary" guidline to come up with a selection of rings for different occupations based on their annual salaries. It is a really interesting and thought-provoking concept. And it's a little sad that we let the DeBeers ad campaign ALL the way back in 1947 so warp our sense of what is important. If you can't tell that your partner loves you until you have something sparkly in your hand then there might be a problem.
